SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
alcohol and society

29/04/2002
Beer & Society Information Center

The Beer & Society Information Center was founded on the initiative of the Belgian Brewers and pursues the objective of better informing the consumer, the media and scientists about the positive health aspects of reasonable beer consumption.

The Belgian Brewers are aware that excessive beer consumption can damage personal health, and can have negative external consequences for society as a whole.

Figures from the Wetenschappelijk Instituut voor de Volksgezondheid show that 66% of the Belgian population, or 94% of all consumers of alcoholic beverages, drink alcohol in moderation. This is the target group of the Beer & Society Information Center.
